Friday night was a blast! Yong, John Wu, and I got to go see the IFL live at the Everett Events Center. Our first live MMA fight ever. Dude.. let me just say.. being there live is totally different than watching UFC or any other fight on pay per view. Everyone was energetic, pumped up, loud, and just the whole atmosphere was so contagious. It's very hard to just sit still and watch two trained dudes throwdown. You can't help but to join in on the shouting, jumping, ooh-ing and ahh-ing. We were so pumped for this fight.. all we did was talk about MMA. The whole ride there (which almost took an hour) we talked about bjj and muay thai. I hope I'm not embarassing Yong.. but we were soooo stoked that when we were sitting down in our seats... he leaned over and said "I'm so giddy right now!" And he had this huge smile.. we just started laughing. Nothing funny happened.. we were just so happy we couldn't help but laugh. Yong and I got the same IFL shirt. It's dope. It says "Pain is temporary" on the top..and on the bottom it says "Glory is forever." BOOYA! OHH..and we also saw Ed Herman in the audience. For those who don't know.. he's in the UFC. =) Most of the fights were entertaining. We saw some good fights; one fight we saw a dude get caught with a high kick on the side of his face and get knocked the crap out of him. He didn't get up, he was down for like 5 minutes. We saw Alex Schoenauer (appeared in Ultimate Fighter 1st season) throwdown and knock his opponent down. BUT the best fight of the night goes to Shad Lierley from Seattle go toe to toe with Chris Horodecki. OHHH MAN.. what can I say about this fight? Let me tell you about Chris Horodecki... he's an mma fighter..he's undefeated..a perfect 10-0 record. He's 155 lbs, 5'9''....and he's... freakin 19 years old!!!!!! Yes..19!! Shad is 26 years old...yet the 19 year old came out on top. This fight lasted the full 3 rounds..and during those rounds.. we saw the most exciting throws I've seen in a long time. Everyone was on their feet..shouting, screaming.. the whole place went nuts!!! Non stop punching kicking.. kneeing.. the place was just out of control. These guys knew how to throwdown.. huuuge fight. WE LOVED IT!! Here are some pictures from the night. Oh and I got to mention.. we had incredible seats. We weren't ringside.. but we were 5 rows behind ringside..so we had just the right elevation that gave us a perfect close view of the ring. Like I said.. everything was dope that night.
